Preschool Learning Foundations
Professional Development Session
Format: Mixed model, 2 hour interactive session; Prior to the session: read background information, selected state publication pages, the article and handouts. During the session, PowerPoint, discussion, and group work.
In response to the Good Start, Grow Smart initiative, States developed guidelines on early childhood pre-reading and language skills activities that align with State K-12 standards. California’s response was to create a comprehensive set of guidelines for multiple domains called the California Preschool Learning Foundations. Prior to the session, participants read background information, selected state publication pages, the article and handouts. During the interactive session, participants view the PowerPoint overview of the California Preschool Learning Foundations. Participants will discuss how these Preschool Learning Foundations can support programs serving young children in California.
