Introduction
Professional Development Session
Format: Mixed model, 1 hour interactive session; Prior to the session: read selected state publication pages and articles. Participants will also review the CPIN Visual and Performing Arts module. During the interactive session, participants will discuss the Guiding Principles on pages 42-45.
The visual and performing arts are as natural to young children’s lives and language and play are. The arts build skills such as problem solving and critical thinking; they bring parallel opportunities for the development of language/communication, mathematics, and the development of social and interpersonal skills. (PCF, p. 40) Prior to the session, participants will read selections from state publications and read the articles. During the interactive session, participants will discuss the Guiding Principles on pages 42-45.
