Region 9-Physical Development: Active Physical Play

This California Preschool Instructional Network workshop demonstrates the importance of how embedding active phsyical play throghout the preschool day promotes children's ability to attend, learn, and regulate their emotional responses. Active phsyical play not only enhances the body's physiological functions, it promotes optimal brain chemistry for school readiness and self regulation.

Participants will:

  • Become aware of the three substands: Active Participantion, Cardiovascular Endurance and Muscular Stenghtn, Muscular Endurance and Flexibility
  • Learn strategies to support the development of active play
  • Reflect on how to increase children's participation in ways that are pursposeful and meaninful

Level: Introductory
Audience: Teaching/Administrator/Leadership Staff, Family Child Care Providers, Family, Friend, and Neighbor Care Providers
Age Range: Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten

This training has been developed to support learning through active engagement. To receive credit for attendance, please note it will be expected of you to participate in any of the following that may take place throughout the training: breakout rooms, chat box responses, polls, and verbal discussions. Though camera access is not required, we highly encourage you to utilize your camera, if possible. We trust that you will take necessary breaks if needed but count on your participation to enrich the learning environment. Lastly, as a friendly reminder, please do not Zoom and Drive!
