California Department of Social Services

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Child Care and Development Division (CCDD) provides planning, policy direction, and oversight of the majority of state-supported childcare and development programs and services in California. These include programs that provide a variety of state-subsidized childcare services, quality improvement plan activities, local childcare, and developmental-informed programs and policies while providing robust technical assistance and support to counties, contractors, and stakeholders.

The California Department of Education (CDE), Early Education Division (EED) provides resources and information for child development contractors, families, and community members regarding child development programs funded by the state.

Family Engagement

Family engagement supports young children’s learning. This resource collection offers guidelines, literacy tools, and learning modules to help educators build strong family partnerships, foster inclusive routines, and support children’s development at home and in the classroom.

Multilingual Learners

The California Preschool Curriculum Framework offers helpful tips on supporting young Multilingual Learners. It covers key areas like guiding principles, classroom setup, family support, and teacher strategies. Research shows that these practices are important for helping Multilingual Learners succeed.

Researcher Presentations
