Region 11 - Best Practice: Integrated Nature of STEM

November 23, 2024 9:00am to 12:30pm

Did you know that children are born “active scientists,” systematically and intentionally exploring their environments? While this is true, they need teachers to help them realize and expand their capacities for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).   Join us as we explore opportunities in the early childhood classroom for children to build an understanding of the world around them through play-based exploration.

In this training, participants will:

  • Identify Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) components in an early childhood classroom
  • Discuss dynamic planning for developmentally appropriate STEM environments and interactions
  • Discover how this approach includes universal design for learning
  • Recognize how this approach supports dual language learners
