Region 11 - Best Practices for Planning Curriculum for Young Children: The Integrated Nature of Learning: Overview

Nov. 14, 2019 9:00am to 12:30pm

Participants will review the components and structure of the newly released Integrated Nature of Learning document.  Participants will explore the ways in which resources of the California Department of Education’s Early Learning and Development System complement one another. Topics will include the way play, learning, and curriculum work together in early education as well as the relationship context for early learning and the role of the teacher in supporting children’s active engagement in learning. Strategies for guiding young children’s learning taken from the California Infant/Toddler Curriculum Framework and the California Preschool Curriculum Framework, Volumes 1, 2, and 2 will be discussed. This discussion illuminates the ways in which learning experiences in one domain may also foster learning in other domains.
