Region 9 - DLL Focus Through the Lens of Key Developmental Areas: Implementation of CECO Modules 1-3

This course will be hosted on a virtual platform and will require asynchronous and synchronous learning. The virtual platform access will be sent to attendees on April 14, 2021. Attendees will be required to complete online coursework prior to the live sessions.

Online coursework will include Dual Language Learner Modules 1-3 on https://www.caearlychildhoodonline.org/. Participants will be required to upload their certificate of completion to access the live Zoom sessions with our CPIN Region 9 Facilitators.

April 14, 2021 - April 28, 2021: Participants will complete DLL Module 1 on https://www.caearlychildhoodonline.org/ (1.5 Professional Learning Hours)
April 28, 2021, 5:00-7:00 PM: Live Zoom session on DLL Module 1 with CPIN Region 9 Facilitators  (2 Professional Learning Hours)
April 28, 2021 - May 12, 2021 - Participants will complete DLL Module 2 on https://www.caearlychildhoodonline.org/ (1 Professional Learning Hour)
May 12, 2021, 5:00-7:00 PM: Live Zoom session on DLL Module 2 with CPIN Region 9 Facilitators (2 Professional Learning Hours)
May 12, 2021 - May 26, 2021 - Participants will complete DLL Module 3  on https://www.caearlychildhoodonline.org/ (1.5 Professional Learning Hours)
May 26, 2021, 5:00-7:00 PM: Live Zoom session on DLL Module 2 with CPIN Region 9 Facilitators (2 Professional Learning Hours)
June 1, 2021 - Virtual Platform closes

In this interactive session, participants will:

•Discover the groups and projects that have received funding to provide educators with professional development specific to California's young dual language learners.

•Explore who California's young dual language learners are by looking at terminology, statistics, characteristics, and developmental pathways.

•Consider why it is important to understand how young dual language learners learn and develop language as well as other key school-readiness skills.

•Discover how to intentionally plan with a focus and to establish strong and meaningful relationships with students and families to promote math, social-emotional, and language growth.
