Phonological awareness is an important area of early and later reading instruction. It plays a direct role in several components of reading such as understanding the alphabetic principle, decoding printed words and spelling; it also provides an indirect role in reading comprehension. From ages four to five years, children begin to develop phonological awareness along a developmental continuum. Learn more abou this progression as demonstrated in the Foundations for Transitional Kindergarten, and participate in engaging activities to support all students.
The TK Professional Learning Program is provided by grant funds, at NO COST to participants.
