CompSat Dual Language Learner  The CompSAT Keys to Reflection and Inquiry offer you a protocol to use in whatever setting you work as an early childhood educator.

Colorín Colorado-- Colorín Colorado is a free web-based service that provides information, activities and advice for educators and Spanish-speaking families of English language learners (ELLs).

National Center on Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness The National Center on Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness provides the Head Start community with research-based information, practices, and strategies to ensure optimal academic and social progress for linguistically and culturally diverse children and their families. It provides culturally responsive, user-friendly materials and training for staff and families to use to promote strong language and literacy skills in children’s home language and in English.

Dual Language Learner Program Assesssment (HeadStart) The DLLPA can also help your program ensure the integration of culturally and linguistically responsive practices for all children.

The Importance of Home Language Series This series of handouts is designed to provide staff and families with basic information on topics related to children learning two or more languages. They emphasize the benefits of being bilingual, the importance of maintaining home language, and the value of becoming fully bilingual. Translations available in 7 languages.

Promoting the Educational Success of Children and Youth Learning English The National Academie of Science, Engieering and Medicine published report Promoting the Educational Success of Children and Youth Learning English: Promising Futures examines how evidence based on research relevant to the development of DLLs/ELs from birth to age 21 can inform education and health policies and related practices that can result in better educational outcomes. This report makes recommendations for policy, practice, and research and data collection focused on addressing the challenges in caring for and educating DLLs/ELs from birth to grade 12. Chapter 4 and 5 specifically address 3, 4 and 5 year olds.
